Association Européenne des Tisseurs de Verre

European Glass Weavers Association

AETV Objective

Aimed at promoting European activities in the field of woven glassfibre fabrics and specialty reinforcements, the European Glass Weavers Association (Association Européenne des Tisseurs de Verre) was created in 1969 under the initiative of the European Glass Weavers. The network currently brings together 18 EU-members for the development and the promotion of glass producers and glass weavers interest in the EU-countries and Switzerland, with specific highlight on following matters :

.................
European Standards in Building
- ETAG issues
- REACH Approach
- Heavy Metals Requirements
- Recovery and Recycling
- Environment Protection

Construction:

This subcommittee was created in june 2006 considering that AETV has few different interests but construction should be considered separately in order to promote our reinforcement products dedicated to ETICS through establishment of standards.

Reach :

Reach stands for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals.

The idea is to estimate the risk of the chemicals imported in Europe. It aims at protecting environment and human health. The estimated cost of evaluation and registration for each material is from 70 to 700 K€ (the average is 200 K€). The suplliers of these materials must provide the certificates (5000 materials registered over 30000 estimated). How to highlight this requirement in relation with the imports ?

The European Union Parliament passed the REACH chemicals legislatiion on 13 December 2006 and is scheduled to take effect from June 2007.

Heavy Metals Regulation :

The objective of our investigation is to increase knowledge and understanding of the Heavy Metal Directive compliance.

EC Marking : Proposal of a standard under study

Identification of the Manufacturer : According to the Austrian Standard.
